This position will support BlackBerry Relay databases locally and worldwide as part of a global team in a 24x7 environment. This person would be required to support the business out of hours. As BlackBerry DBA, the successful candidate will provide direct production database management and administrative services for the Oracle Databases including software version control, upgrades, migrations and installations. The incumbent will be planning for the future development of the system and anticipate business growth by capacity planning, space allocation and management whilst constantly monitoring and tuning the databases. This role will require the candidate to be up to date with relevant standards identification to ensure RIM is compliant, including designing and developing a plan for disaster recovery.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
•Degree or equivalent
•Technical specialist in:
-Oracle Database
-Sybase Database
•Results orientated
•Can deliver in pressurized situations
•Minimum of 8 years Oracle DBA experience in a large production environment (500gb or greater)
•Experience supporting Oracle in a Unix environment
•Experience with Oracle 10g/9i databases, including a relevant certification on Oracle 9i or higher
•Skilled in database backup and recovery
•Knowledge of high availability methodology
•Skilled in performance tuning of production databases
•Preference will be given to candidates with Sybase experience
•Team player
